 family tree online

Our family tree is now available online at http://tree.berkland.us.  You will need to create a new account on that site to be able to view anything.  Only members of the family will be allowed to create accounts.  (At some future date I may make only the information of living people restricted, but for right now, it's all restricted.)  Once you have signed up and been verified, you will be able update the information for your family.  You will be able to add record new marriages, children, and update those those who have passed on.  If any of you are working on a more personal family tree, you will be able to be able to export portions of this family tree in GEDCOM format which you can then import into whichever geneology software you prefer.

 who are we?

This web site was created for the descendants of Askel & Esther Berkland. Askel Berentson Klungland Berkeland (buried as Askel Berkland) was from Brynnesland which is 6 fjords south of Stavanger. In 1889, Askel and and his wife Esther came to America with five of nine children. The children who came to America included Rebecca, Bernt, Martina, Olai, Andrew, Anna, and Louisa. Andrew Berkland married Clara Benson and their children included Ernest, Bert, Ida, Amos, Raymond, Bennie, Oscar, Clarence, Melvin, and Eunice. Askel settled on a farm near Fenton, IA before Fenton was founded.

If anyone is interested in authoring a more complete version of this, or adding any additional information, let me know. All you need to do is write it (any format) and it to me.
